Blood is usually thicker than water, but I would have to agree that not always.

@seeking, lol. I’ve always wondered what “tough love” meant …Is it bad?

Mia, I don’t consider tough love good or bad. But I sometimes think it may be necessary. Does that help? lol

I agree that blood isn’t always thicker than water, but coming from Asian culture, I feel that I actually am obligated to love my family…

I don’t think that sounds fair. If parents didn’t show that they care but guilt trip you if you go against what they say

@mysterious001, I don’t think it’s fair too, but if you grow up that way, it’s kinda all you know. What is it like for Black families?

Sorry for the late response. It depends on their upbringing. Some Black kids have both parents and have healthy families. But many have one parent at home or neither. For those who have a single parent or parents who aren’t married to each other they may feel hateful towards the parent who isn’t around or is in their lives but doesn’t have custody of them or have negative biased opinions listening to what their parents say about each other.

Culture can get complicated sometimes when raised in different country.

I actually agree with both perspectives. Family is certainly important but they can also be abusive and destructive. My friends are like my family and i love them the same as my family. Love is the most important thing!
