I guess it’s okay for a woman to approach a man, but in my culture it’s kind of weird to chase a guy, so I wait for the hello.

Does online versus in person matters? Is it the same or different?

I don’t message guy first because I’m shy.

Is it a guy thing? What if you just want a friend?

I don’t understand the chase part. Do you just wait hoping to meet interesting people? For example, this website is for Asian woman and black men. I’ve lived in places where there wasn’t any Asian population. I would never be able to know anything about different people or cultures. People are interesting once you know their motives.

Aw, Kimdiamond. Don’t be shy. I can’t speak for every Black man in the world, but as a rule of thumb, we Black men are friendly. I don’t bite 🙂

    Hey everyone!!!
I’m new here. I’ve been wanting to check out these chat rooms for a while now!! 🙂
My answer to this question is a bit awkward, but I reach out to guys sometimes, but very very rarely. Like I get very nervous to send the first message, and I feel that if he likes me, he will talk to me. I don’t know if that is weird or if the nervousness happens to men too sometimes?

I don’t know about all men but it is usually more awkward and nervous for me after the first message. If I send a message and they don’t answer, I know they are not interested.

It is much harder to me to say hello in person than online plus I know something about you before I say hello. It is not the same level of anxiety. Typing on a computer isn’t the same as seeing your body language and hearing your voice. What you are wearing. How sarcastic you maybe. I can turn my computer off. I can rewrite what I wrote like 5 times before I sent it. You will never know.

For me it’s the same both online and in-person it seems desperate to chase a guy.

Imlostinmidga. Yes, even for friendships I’m shy. But since this website is for Asian women and Black men, like you mentioned, it makes it easier to learn about the Black culture without feeling too shy and I feel like I can teach Black guys about Asian culture too equally. Also I feel comfortable knowing that Black guys here actually like us, so I don’t feel much like I’ll be rejected, and these group chats seem to help me open up too, because one-on-one chats make me extra nervous.

I always thought it was the other way around but it could be me specifically. I found it easier to chat Asians outside of America then here. Some women who married in my church to black guys won’t even say hi if I speak to them and these women are old enough to be my mom. Do you feel nervous about meeting people in general or is it just a guy thing?

Speaking of chats…I didn’t see a lot. I guess people were looking for dates exclusively. I do like the idea of a Christian group. Whoever thought of that was cool.

Me too, diamondkim. I’m usually nervous regardless. I agree that the group chats are helpful. Kinda makes be break out from my shell.

Oh! & I also specifically like connecting with other Christians. I’m less nervous when a Christian man approaches me.

I’ve grown to learn that since you ladies are so dang shy, I definitely tend to have more luck and a bunch of message replies if I reach out to y’all first haha. Kinda sucks to always have to reach out first, but it’s definitely worth it.
