■ Leave out the sarcasm

Sarcasm or negativity do not work very well in a profile. You might have a sarcastic personality, and people who already know you in-person might love that about you, but sarcasm doesn’t translate very well on online profiles and might make you accidentally send the wrong message across.

■ Use correct spelling and grammar

Although some might not care, many people do look at your grammar. Some might even list incorrect spelling and grammar as a pet peave or deal-breaker on their profile. Make sure to check and fix any mistakes on your profile before finalizing it, so you don’t run the risk of turning someone off before they even get to know you.

■ Anything you won’t bring to the first date? …Don’t put it on your profile

Puppies, babies, sunglasses… are all cute, but if they are not something you would like to take with you to your first date, then we suggest that you leave it out of your profile photo. They add distraction and take the focus off YOU. Instead, you can write about them in your profile if they play a part in your life.
