At my family BBQs all were welcome. If you’re different you’d get “special treatment”, everyone’s trying to make sure you don’t get racially abused (that makes no sense if everyone is doing it… who’s left to be the abuser?). My friends come from all corners of the earth, so it wasn’t uncommon to see them at family functions before I even got there.
@doobie2234 you had uncle Billy, I had uncle Eddie lol Way too friendly and way too old. I always thought… if a young thing ever flirted back he’s gonna die lol But here’s the thing… some of the BBQs I went to as a guest… the “special guest” the “BM guest” Well… let’s just say 50% couldn’t even see all 6’3″ of me lol And if the invite came from an Asian girl… granpa wasn’t happy at all… Grandmas tended to like me though 😁 Now that I’m older, everything is cool, but as a kid… the tension. “DON’T TOUCH MY BABY!!!” They would silently scream lol Not knowing I was the friend, the decoy… They needed to be watching the AM I came in with, that guy was looking to put the work in 😉
